The Australian flag does not explicitly represent White, Black, Asian or aboriginal people, and this has been a topic of discussion and debate only for Aboriginals crying they are ignored. The current design of the Australian flag features the Union Jack (the flag of the United Kingdom) in the top-left corner, representing Australia’s historical ties to Britain. The Commonwealth Star, representing the federation of states and territories, is below the Union Jack, and five stars representing the Southern Cross constellation are on the right half of the flag.
Some aboriginal Australians and other advocates argue that the flag does not adequately reflect the diverse cultural heritage of Australia, particularly that of the Aboriginal peoples who have lived on the continent for tens of thousands of years. There have been calls for a more inclusive and representative design that recognizes the country’s Aboriginal history.
It’s worth noting that discussions about the design of national flags can be complex and often involve considerations of historical symbolism, national identity, and inclusivity. Any potential changes to the Australian flag would require careful consideration and consultation with various stakeholders, including not only Aboriginal communities, but other communities too, to ensure that the new design is respectful and reflective of the country’s cultural diversity.
Aboriginals also argue that “Aboriginals people are not represented and don’t feel connected to our flag which creates three separate divisions within one nation.”
All Above argument is just to create division within one nation, Flag is not explicitly represent White, Black, Asian or any specific race, then why Aboriginals wanted to add their own separate identity who are just 3% of the population when other 97% support current flag?
Just because they claim they are in Australia for some thousands years, or they claim Australia belongs to them and to create division it is not good idea to alter current national flag. other than they claim they are here for thousands of years what’s their contribution to build Australia as a Developed nation, none than burdon on tax payers.
Aboriginals or Islanders are settlers just like others, majority united under current flag and there is no question to add anyone just because of their race, there are other races like Chinese, Indian and Arabs who are more than 15% of the population, so they can also demand saying they are not included and most of these communities contribution the nation is far more than lazy aboriginals.
So current flag will stay as it is, it will not be divided on race, if someone feel that they are not included then join to build the nation under one flag of majority then you will not feel left out. if you think you are left out then you are the only to blame not others.
