Who is Thomas Mayo (aka Thomas Mayor)
Is he another fake aboriginal in the mould of Bruce Pascoe?
For starters Mayo has changed his surname from ‘Mayor’ to ‘Mayo’ perhaps to sound more ‘aboriginal’. (Mayo…Mabo….).
On his personal website he claims Thomas Mayo is a person of Kaurareg Aboriginal and Kalkalgal Erubamle Torres Strait Islander descent
However, his heritage shows zero aboriginality.
The Independent Education website describes Mayor differently and more accurately:
“He is the eldest of three children, and one of his two sisters is a teacher. His father, Celestino Mayor(born in Philippines), is a Torres Strait Islander of Philippine and Dayak ancestry and his mother, Liz Mayor, brings Polish, Jewish and English ancestry to the family. Mayor distils his deep and diverse heritage succinctly.”
Mayo (who changed his surname) has described his father Celestino Mayor as a Torres Strait Islander of Filipino and Dayak (Borneo) ancestry, and his mother Liz as of Polish, Jewish and English ancestry. In one interview, Mayo said his great-great-grandfather Mayor came to Australia from the Philippines.
Nothing about aboriginal heritage. And Mayo…er…Mayor would certainly bang on about it if it were so, wouldn’t he?
Is he another opportunistic racial appropriator using genuine aborigines to push his Communist agenda?.
Mayo…or Mayor…..er…whatever….is, according to The Australian:

In 2022, he decided to adopt the name Mayo, which is a tribute to his heritage and a return to the original surname of his ancestors.
He shared that a priest in a previous generation had altered the spelling of their last name to Mayor, and he made the decision to rectify this and go back to the original spelling of Mayo.

just because he was born in Darwin he will not become Aboriginal. We have to check with Larrakia country elders, how he is one of them.
For the first four decades of his life – including for the publication of his first books – Mayo went by Thomas Mayor. In 2022, he changed his surname to Mayo. Why someone want to change surname which closely resemble to Philippines or somewhere else to native Australian? that shows his vested interests.
Thomas Mayor is a Torres Strait Islander man born on Larrakia country in Darwin.
He started his working life as a wharf labourer (is a waterfront manual laborer who is involved in loading and unloading ships) at the age of 17, until he became a union official for the Maritime Union of Australia in his early 30s.
he is just another Communist found good opportunity to encash with the situation fooling aboriginals and Australia.
As an Australian we have rights to demand his DNA/GENOME to prove his Aboriginal Ancestry.
We have to remind him just by changing name like calling a donkey as a horse, it will not change its attitude or speed.
